Learn to Skate

Learn to Skate

The Skate Toronto Learn to Skate Programs are offered during the Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer seasons for all ages. This program designed to give skaters of all ages skating skills for recreational skating and to advance to our other courses including the Junior Figure Skating and Power Skating programs. All of our learn to skate programs have a 1:8 coach to skater ratio.

The Skate Toronto Learn to Skate Program has six levels based on the age and skill level of the skater. We follow the nationally standardized learn to skate program that is followed by all skating clubs and private skating schools across Canada where skills are taught step by step to teach skaters the proper skating techniques. The Learn to Skate Program overall focuses on forwards gliding, backwards gliding, turning, power and speed in a progressive manner improving each of these from one stage to the next as skaters go through the levels.

The first four levels are more basic where by completing of these levels a skater would be proficient at skating on their own for recreation. Levels 5 and 6 are more advanced Learn to Skate levels that concentrate on power, speed and technique. These advanced learn to skate levels start to prepare skaters for hockey, speed skating and figure skating.
